This document sets out the position of the ACT Aquatic Alliance regarding the proposed Commonwealth Park Aquatic Facility and outlines the essential infrastructure required to meet the Territory’s current and future aquatic needs.

The ACT Aquatic Alliance strongly supports the Government’s investment and the delivery of a new facility. Our position is clear: the project must include a 50m, 10 lane indoor competition pool with a uniform deep water profile, a dedicated 5m deep Dive Pool with modern Diving facilities (or an equivalent indoor replacement), and practical access and event-ready design to ensure long-term participation, performance pathways and sustainable operations.

The Alliance is aware that ACT Property Group has a tender out for the contract/s for aquatic facility management services at the Canberra Olympic Pool, Dickson Pool, Gungahlin Leisure Centre, Lakeside Leisure Centre, and Stromlo Leisure Centre. With the tender application process coming to a close on 17 April 2023, we are seeking for aquatic user groups to be consulted, and the needs of the membership considered.

The ACT Aquatic Alliance supports a collective position on Canberra Olympic Pool (Civic Pool) and Redevelopment. Civic Pool has come to the end of its lifespan and is no longer fit for purpose.
